Abstract: Un ulteriore passo nel mondo dei robottini di Matt Dixon, con un titolo dedicato alla comunicazione, tema sempre caro all’autore. Il motivo, se non fosse chiaro (l’epifania è ormai svelata: i robot siamo noi), è che “comunicare”, sia per gli “antennuti” robottini che per noi macchine “morbide”, si traduce e coniuga sempre di più nel tecnologico “trasmettere”, e quindi sull’essere connessi. Come se la comunicazione diretta, viso a viso o comunque non mediata dalla tecnologia, ci fosse sempre più preclusa. Ulteriore e finale paradosso dell’era dei social network.

Abstract: David Merveille si immerge nelle scene di un film delicato, dai toni garbati, pieno di serenità ma anche di un pizzico di malinconia da sabato del villaggio, Le vacanze di Monsieur Hulot (1953). Troviamo il nostro eroe, con la sua silhouette leggendaria, sulla spiaggia di Saint-Marc-sur-Mer. L'autore ricrea l'universo divertente e poetico di questo adorabile personaggio in un silet elegante ed ironico. Deciso a trascorrere una rilassante giornata in spiaggia si ritrova a rincorrere prima una scarpa, poi la sua mitica pipa e in fine il quotidiano che prende il volo su un aquilone.

Abstract: Joachim von Hartmann was born and raised in Buenos Aires by his loving German mother, inseparable from his identical twin, Javier. When Joachim moves to Paris with his mother in his late teens, his twin stays behind and enters a dark world. Abstract: Las enigmáticas desapariciones de niñas del colegio de las madres lazaristas de San Gervasio son el punto de inicio de la aventura indagatoria que tiene como protagonista a un cliente del manicomio, quien, obligado a convertirse en investigador, se verá envuelto en toda clase de percances de los que logrará salir llevando a cabo su cometido y descubriendo una intrincada farsa de gente pudiente. La escritura de Mendoza constituye un espléndido ejemplo de investigación literaria personal, ajena a todo mimetismo, que ahonda en las posibilidades de volver del revés, sin infringirlas a primera vista, las posibilidades del relato tradicional, e indagar así ―como un buen detective, o como un personaje de Henry James― en el dibujo que se nos muestra al dorso del tapiz de la trama. Una farsa burlesca y una sátira moral y social que tiene sus raíces últimas en la picaresca y en el modelo cervantino.

Abstract: Vicino alla villa di Jay Gatsby, un misterioso personaggio legato alla malavita, abita Nick Carraway, un giovane agente di cambio. Daisy, cugina di Nick, sposata al ricco Tom Buchanan, era stata, anni prima fidanzata di Jay Gatsby. Jay riesce a riconquistare Daisy e a diventarne l'amante, mentre Buchanan stringe una relazione con Myrtle Wilson, moglie del proprietario di un garage. Daisy uccide, con l'auto di Gatsby, Myrtle, ma Buchanan e Daisy stessa danno la responsabilità dell'incidente a Gatsby che aveva cercato di proteggere l'amante. Wilson uccide Gatsby e si toglie la vita. Intanto Daisy e Tom riprendono la loro banale e sfarzosa vita coniugale.

Abstract: This volume features around 120 haute couture designs by Christian Dior from the collections of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and the House of Dior—including archival runway prototype and custom garments—showcased alongside fashion photography, film stills, vintage perfume, cosmetics and original sketches, Dior’s furniture and other decorative pieces that demonstrate the designer’s passion for collecting and his time as an art dealer. The items reproduced here thus offer an overview of Dior’s life and character, as well as his haute couture creations since 1947, always the epitome of modern elegance, with the selection taking as its unifying thread the fabric of dreams and the passing on of an aesthetic vision. Christian Dior was born in Granville, a seaside town on the coast of Normandy, France, in 1904. While his family had hoped that he would become a diplomat, Dior preferred art. His preternatural talent resulted in him being hired by Robert Piquet in 1937, and he subsequently worked alongside Pierre Balmain and Lucien Lelong. Dior was an instant sensation after the Second World War. His designs, which asserted femininity, were a strong rebuke to the utilitarian, unisex clothing of wartime Europe, and came to symbolize the “New Look.” Since his untimely death in 1957, an exceptional series of creative directors have imprinted their own style upon the iconic brand.
