Abstract: Una guida al Museo e Tesoro del Duomo di Monza che accompagna il lettore lungo un percorso lungo 1440 anni, dalla fondazione della basilica di San Giovanni Battista ai giorni nostri. L'inestimabile patrimonio di oreficerie, sculture, reliquie e dipinti, frutto della perizia di generazioni di artisti e della generosità di devoti committenti, è conservato nelle due sezioni del museo, Filippo Serpero, dedicata alla scomparsa basilica alto medievale, e Carlo Caiani, voluta e progettata per esporre e valorizzare le opere che hanno arricchito il patrimonio della chiesa. Nel museo ha sede uno dei più importanti tesori longobardi, che trae origine dall'epoca di Teodolinda, la regina che elesse la città di Monza a sua dimora.

Abstract: Every Chinese textile tells a story, and this book tells many stories of Chinese life and legend through the sumptuous textiles that adorn its pages. Breathtaking in workmanship, colour and design, they were made for a purpose, and it is those created for celebrations that dominate the selection in this book. As well as dealing with technique and influence, Wilson tells the story of each piece - why it was made and for whom - and introduces us to a galaxy of characters from China's history and legend. The superb photography allows us to see how richly these textiles reflect the culture from which they come.
