Abstract: This sumptuous book is a wide-ranging yet accessible overview of the making, design, and use of textiles from the Indian subcontinent. Focusing on individual objects, it explores in great detail the materials and techniques used in their manufacture and discusses centres of production, patronage, markets and designs. Abstract: La moda è coinvolta in un cambio di paradigma che ne trasforma il modello produttivo. Bellezza, creatività, eleganza e originalità, valori elettivi della moda, sono stati per molto tempo considerati estranei o antitetici a quelli della sostenibilità e del rispetto dell'ambiente. Oggi il confine che li separava è stato oltrepassato. Il cambio di paradigma si è manifestato nel primo decennio del nuovo secolo con vibrazioni minime, diventate negli ultimi anni, in un brevissimo lasso di tempo, una grande onda che spinge in avanti, in modo ancora caotico e contraddittorio, gran parte dell'industria, inclusi i marchi leader che ora considerano l'impegno verso la sostenibilità una componente identitaria di primo piano.
