Abstract: Dopo le due grandi mostre dedicate nel 2005 a Boldini e nel 2013 a De Nittis, era giunto il momento per Palazzo Zabarella, proprio in coincidenza con il centenario della morte avvenuta nel 1917, di realizzare una rassegna sul terzo degli italiani a Parigi, il veneziano Federico Zandomeneghi che, più degli altri due, ha saputo inserirsi nel clima sperimentale della capitale francese, quando grazie soprattutto al movimento degli Impressionisti era diventata la straordinaria officina della modernità. Come gli è stato riconosciuto dall'amico Diego Martelli, che è stato l'unico italiano a capire e a far conoscere quei pittori rivoluzionari cui dedicò la celebre conferenza tenuta nel 1879 a Livorno, Zandò, come veniva familiarmente chiamato dai suoi amici francesi, fu l'unico italiano a fare parte del gruppo, partecipando alle loro mostre alternative a quelle dei Salon ufficiali. Così egli scelse di legarsi anche al loro mercante, il grande Durand-Ruel, senza farsi attrarre come tanti altri che transitarono a Parigi, dalla sirena di Goupil e dai facili guadagni, convertendosi a una pittura piacevole ma senza anima. Abstract: The fashionable male may be making a comeback, but early fashion trends centered around what men-not women-were wearing.
