Abstract: Leggere i vasi dipinti giunti a noi dal mondo classico richiede tempo, è un'attività contemplativa. Le iconografie sono spesso complesse, il loro significato difficile da decodificare. Ma la serie di informazioni che essi danno a chi li osserva con attenzione sono straordinariamente ricche, sorprendenti e affascinanti. Le ceramiche magnogreche esposte nella mostra Il viaggio dell'eroe, decorate da scene dipinte di eccezionale qualità, consentiranno uno straordinario viaggio nelle vicende mitiche degli eroi greci, da Achille ad Aiace, da Eracle a Teseo. La selezione dei vasi è focalizzata su due temi principali: l'eroe nello spazio del mito e l'eroe nello spazio dell'uomo. Il viaggio dell'eroe appartiene al progetto Il Tempo dell'Antico, ciclo espositivo dedicato alla valorizzazione della raccolta Intesa Sanpaolo di ceramiche attiche e magnogreche. In questa occasione la mostra verrà esposta, in un allestimento rivisitato, nella Pinacoteca Giovanni e Marella Agnelli di Torino.

Abstract: The fashionable male may be making a comeback, but early fashion trends centered around what men-not women-were wearing. This intriguing book traces the history of men's fashion since the 18th century, when young Englishmen imitated foreign dress and manners as they toured the European continent.
