Abstract: "Edwin and Charles decide to spend their summer holidays in a small but charming resort in America. Thomas their porter, accompanies them. The two wealthy young men have every intention to fully enjoy their leisure time. They spend their days resting, hunting, fishing, walking, smoking. One day new guests arrive, Chapman and his family, that is actually his daughter Hattie and her friend Laura, two beautiful girls who soon attracts the attention of all the youngsters. Edwin and Charles go round with the girls but soon the predictable moment of decision comes, so they start planning their life together with the girls, however they cynically let fate decide the pairs. They willingly accept what the dice decide, in the presence of Thomas, and they plan a picnic. There seems not to be the slightest doubt on the beautiful day, but both the girls reject the proposals of the young surprised boys. The girls hand them a letter on the day of their departure explaining the reason for the refusal. Thomas who, meanwhile, had a relationship with Miss Chapman's maid, had told her the mechanism of choice and she had, in turn, told her mistress about it. Thomas is obviously discharged.
